Unless you are surrounded by a network environment or longing to access your computer over a network/Internet then near would very little ascendancy. As for the upgrade there is no problem but at hand is a program on the Microsoft website to check if your computer will be able to run window vista, if it does then amass your money a while and upgrade at the this release.
Can i suggest, if you haven't already done so, that you compare both first to determine if there's any advantage for you surrounded by having the Pro revision? Lot's of people find in that isn't! Just trying to save you money . . .
