Make sure the new card is indistinguishable bus type, your power supply has satisfactory for the new card & it will also fit surrounded by your case.
If both the infirm graphic card and the one you plan to upgrade to is using alike slot(i.e. AGP or PCI Express), it will be an easy upgrade. Don't forget to check the power supply part.
