how do i access mac bios?

TTBOMK you don't. A Mac isn't a PC!

Macs hold something called Open Firmware instead.

One of the push button sequences to reach it is,

CMD-OPT-O-F

which when used during the power on sequence

should purloin you to a DOS style command prompt.

Link below should help as a go underwater off point...
Hello carl w,

Here's what I get according to David Pogue's book, "Mac OS X, The Missing Manual",

"You'll never have to update or even assume about the ROM of your Macintosh (the approximate equivalent of the BIOS on the PC). It's unwavering and unchanging. The very similar firmware of your Macintosh does occasionally enjoy to be updated in proclaim to work with a latest version of the Mac Operating System or some dramatic trial feature--once every four years, perhaps. You'll be notify on the screen when the time comes."

I can't speak for Mac OS 9.x, but I suspect it might be somewhat matching. Best of luck in your query.
