Another risk is to go to Microsoft's Mactopia page and download Flip4Mac. This is sort of a hack where on earth you can view Windows Media Player stuff on Quicktime.

I too vouch for VLC - it works on lots of operating systems (windows, mac, linux, etc) and will unequivocal almost all movie report types you can find... except realplayer (.ram, etc.)
