My desktop computer died more than a year ago. The computer stays on 24/7, I can hear the intricate drive spinning, but it won't let me bring back to any files. I must leave this computer on for DSL to work, so I can't remove the thorny drive (even if I knew how, which I don't).
Here's what I've get to work with to try to retrieve the files, and I can't afford to steal it somewhere to have someone work on it (plus I'm screwed if I disconnect from DSL).
I've get a notebook computer and an external hard drive. Is it possible for me to hook up to the desktop computer and copy the files over?
If so, what nature of cable would I need? Thanks so, so much!
How can I try to seize files stale unconscious desktop computer easier said than done drive?
the computer is deceased but your network is still up? not sure how a unresponsive computer still keep up a dsl nouns. you can hook up two computers together with an ethernet cards, bt you inevitability whats called a crossover cable.
Take it to a certified PC repair shop. I took mine to a Radio Shack. Depending on why the puter is unconscious, they may be able to extract whats in attendance and put it on another drive.
If you can not go to a repair shop iI suggest it will be difficult for you to recover the files. You can gothrough a article on computer hard drive problems at http://www.jskproducts.co.uk/harddrive.h...
This report also discusses the capability of recovering files from hard drive. I reflect on it will be useful contained by your case.
