How can I enlighten if my computer can burn DVD's?

on the cd drive it will show DVD+- RW, if you are using Win XP, on the my computer the cd drive subdivision will show "DVD-RW Drive" not "CD Drive" or "CD-RW Drive".

be in motion to START, then click CONTROL PANEL, consequently click SYSTEM, then HARDWARE . next DEVICE MANAGER, click on DISK DRIVES. Now this will tell you what you own cd drive or dvd drive. If it says DVD drive, consequently if you can only play (unlikely) you will own DVD r drive. If the DVD can burn it will have DVD RWdrive. Mine have Sony DVD RW DRU-830A. Incidentally, if you buy a drive get this one it is $43 on pricegrabber.com. Way lot cheaper than at Circuit City.
