The others be right in their answers, but if it is really bothering you run to Add/Remove Programs, and remove the program associated with it, and remove the program. Re-install the program and choose DO NOT put shortcut on Desktop. A shotrcut is no problem unless you do not want others to see it.
right click on the deity and choose delete.
select icon, mouse right click, choose delete.
right click the shortcut later delete.
Drag it to the recycle bin.
