how can i reformat my harddrive?

i own all the software to reinstall everything. i simply need to seize rid of all the cast-offs on my computer and restart with a fresh harddrive.

how can i reformat my harddrive?

I would Fdisk the drive within DOS. Get a Windows startup disk and run A:fdisk.exe.
If you have a Dell computer that's intensely easy do they have this item where you can hit alt 7 during booting and it go back the productive state it was surrounded by when you received it. Otherwise be careful basis you might end up doing something that does not allow you to control the the ivories or something. I owuld call the entrepreneur of the computer you purchased. '-)
To reformat the drive you can insert the windows disc, when it boots you want to choose the selection that say "format the drive in NTFS" DO NOT do the QUICK format as this does not ACTUALLY format the drive, it single removes references to the files on the PC. (Like tear the table of contents out of a book, the pages would still be there)
If information on your hard disk is corrupted it is advisable to format the complex disk and reinstall the operating system (usually Windows XP) More details at http://fixit.in/format.html
